I met Daniel (and his twin brother Phillipp) on a deep water soloing mission on the gorgeous isle of Majorca where both guys were 'modelling' for a Red Chili photoshoot. Both these guys were super cool and both had a climbing fire which set them apart from the average Joes....impressing with their skill and unflappability above a fairly high sea... Dani on a 7c+ route at Cala Magraner Majorca.....on a rope this time... Both live in Germany and are sponsored by Red Chili (and Wild Country soon)...Dani takes it up... "I am 25 years old, I live in Munich, Germany and I am a student in management science. I started climbing when I was 16 years old, and since then I got stronger and stronger and so “here I am”!! I try to climb as often as I can. Usually I prefer climbing outside. I hate climbing and bouldering on plastic, but sometimes I have to use it. About training there´s nothing really to say. I just do sometimes a little bit on the campus board, like hanging on edges with just single fingers, but I try to do some sports every day. So I like running as well as hiking in the mountains, do some one arm pull ups and some other stuff for keeping strong. At the moment I have concentrated on short powerful routes and some hard boulder problems, but soon I would like to improve my endurance and try some longer routes as well. I would say that my weakness is definitely my endurance. In opposite to this I am very strong on long, hard moves where body tension is needed. I began bouldering when me and my brother Phil met Toni Lamprecht. He is a kind of idol for us in bouldering, and the emotion we could see on the rock when he tried some hard moves was so fantastic, he lives for the sport, and that’s what is very impressive for me. Some other heros for me would be; Klem Loskot, with his fantastic dynamic style on the rock & Markus Bock holding holds where you can see nothing to hold. I like the moment when I am trying new and hard moves on the rock. I love searching for the solution to a problem and in the end to get to ‘top out’ a hard problem. It’s a feeling nobody can describe. Also I love searching for new problems. I also am coach some very psyched kids in climbing and bouldering. That’s one of a few jobs I have to do to get money for my studies at the university. There are still some big goals for me in the future, like some hard boulders in Kochel, Frankenjura and other spots in the German alps. Also I´ve got some hard projects in sports climbing as well. I wanna just be open for new dimensions in bouldering and rope climbing… Her are some of the best boulders I have done Jenseits von Jena (graded 8A+), Unterdruck (graded 8A+), V2 (graded 8A+), Apocalypse Now (8b/+), Voigas (graded 8B), La Socoupe (graded 8B), Oif und Zwoif Affn (8A+), Snooker (8B trav.), Saw (FA 8A),…etc. |
