James Pearson has once more upped the ante in British climbing with an amazing first ascent of 'The Groove' at Cratcliffe, one of the most famous last great problems on gritstone... James Pearson tops out on his amazing new route... Weighing in at a hefty E10 7B James has once again proven what a cool head he has and this 'keen youth' (still only 23) is really tearing up all the scenes, from 8B boulder flashes to what is now his 3rd E10 on gritstone. James takes up the story of his amazing ascent below: "My week at work passed incredibly slowly with frustration increasing every time I looked out the window to find a clear crisp January day. The weather forecast showed that Saturday (my first day off) might be great conditions but if I knew anything, it’s not to trust a British forecast. Time felt like it was running away from me. I had 6 days from finishing work before leaving for a week in France, and then 3 days on my return before going back to work and then off to China! The worry that I might not get to complete the route crept slowly but surely into my thoughts so I focused everything, hopefully on to Saturday. Click here to read on.... James is sponsored by Wild Country, Infinity Ropes, and is on the North Face world team... James used his Infinity Sprint 9.2mm rope and Elite Ultralite harness on this route just click them to see more...
