Range Overview

Like the DNA Helix carries the ‘building blocks of life’, Wild Country considers the harness as the climbers’ true base element. Invisible until needed and unequivocally trusted, a good harness should be easy to use, reliable and provide total security!

Our brief was to make the Helix range safer, better appointed and more comfortable and than any Wild Country harness before and the results, combining our Ziplock buckle, batwing belt and new colours, speak for themselves.

The range consists of five harnesses designed to give a great value choice to the widest range of climbers without making gimmicky models that don't really have a purpose. So if your taking your first steps on the crag or walls, out in harsher conditions or need a big wall load carrying we've got a harness for all climbs and for all shapes and sizes of climber.

The Helix Harness Range

There are five models in the Helix range providing a comprehenisve coverage for all sides of the sport, from extreme ice to beginners gym, in a selection which caters for the differing demands of both male and female climbers.

Helix Harness Features

To create this range we had to make sure that we hit all the basics, therefore the underlying design of all these Helix harnesses is based on making the most of the following features:

Ziplock Buckle - As we have already talked about we feel that this brilliant piece really sets a standard for ease of use and security…it makes racking a loaded harness much easier and allows proper tightening when a threadback would be so hard to use.

Batwing Belt - this is a new design, which in profile resembles a birds or bats wing outstretched. The idea is that this shape resembles most the way the hip and back are best covered to spread the support of the belt so it is most effective.

The batwing belt wraps to form a secure belt.

Gear Loops - Wild Country always strives to make sure there's a suitable number of gear loops on every harness so that each model can be used across the full spectrum of climbing without causing problems. At Wild Co we feel the ideal for trad climbing is five, with the rear loop great for carrying and keeping separate a belay device, prussiks, nut key or other such pieces. Therefore we try and get that number on all harnesses as a minimum. All loops hold 10kg.

Wide Waistbelt Sizing - All single buckle Wild Country Harnesses have been designed with a larger, approx 6”/15cm, overlap on the waist belt. We feel this allows more 'room for manoeuvre' in changing climates. So if you're adding or subtracting layers suddenly your harness is not falling off or too tight to use…

Threadback leg loops - We resisted making the leg loops a Ziplock style buckle as we felt that in cold weather when the fingers were slow it would be easier to re-thread the traditional way than having to fiddle to undo a small zipper…

Single Clip Leg Loops - Simple but effective our single clip off leg loop attachment point allows for those calls of nature to be met speedily and efficiently.

15kn Rear Haul Point - All Wild Country harness have a raised section of webbing at the rear for attaching a haul loop or even belaying on…this simple method's very strong and easy to find and clip.

25kn Belay Loop - All Wild Country belay loops are tested to 25kn and made of our most durable material Finotex, to resist wear for ages and ages…
