Made from 12mm round bar stock means that the Synergy is a true HMS, and this means that this unit is highly recommended for all belaying jobs as the round bar helps the rope run more smoothly. The round bar also means it has the ability to be used with a Italian hitch to double as a belay or abseil device in its own right – useful if you drop your belay device.

It is important to note that the Synergy's gate uses 7075 alloy which is the same as the biner body and is super strong. This means unlike many other brands the gate when closed should make the same strength if pushed inwards as pulled outwards.

This is not a requirement for the CE test but it is something that we have insisted on as there have been a number of notable failures of gates when pushed in, especially in abseiling situations using Figure 8s. Finally, like all the Wild Country biners, the thimble on the gate always stops short of the nose making sure it cannot be over-tightened.

New Synergy Keylock Twistlock Autolock

There are some situations where it’s absolutely necessary to be sure your screwgate is closed - so also available for the safety conscious or for more select applications comes our full Autolock Synergy.

This has a three stage mechanism that makes sure it must be deliberately opened and then when it’s let go it closes and autolocks itself - meaning that there’s no more worrying about accidental unlocking.

As with the standard screw it uses the same 12mm round bar construction, keeping a smooth profile for ropes, and enabling it to be used with a Munter hitch and a wider range of knots. A perfect group or centre biner.
