Clog Locking Karabiners

The Clog screwgate range, as well as being ideal for climbers, has overtime been adopted by a huge range of institutions based on their solidity strength and reliability. From outdoor centres to the army, fans of Clog have kept up the demand, keeping Clog screwgates as some of the most popular and therefore most tested and abused in the country making sure we as manufacturers have not dropped our standards

Because of the variety of these demands there is a large range of Clog screws available and this can sometimes be confusing, especially to the first time buyer. However, as a brief guide their uses can be best identified by looking at their strengths and their shapes and aligning these to your use, whether personal, business or group.

Interestingly, in general the larger the screwgate the lower the rated strength, this is due to the amount of leverage that can be built up over the length of the ‘arm’ at the widest end. Therefore it is important to always look at the ratings on screwgates as they do vary widely and the strongest looking may not be the strongest however they will fit the most rope inside…As the inverse of this it also important to compare shapes, with the more compact ‘D’ shaped screwgates offering the most strength but not giving as much opportunity for differing uses and different knots.

Clog 10mm Screwgate

Super 10mm Screwgate

As part of the recently revised range of Clog biners this has all the qualities of the straightgate described above. The new larger size gives a bigger internal radius and has more room for ropes, slings and knots for belays. Light enough to carry on your slings as an all rounder this is a top value screwgate with an easy action and neatly handsized to boot.

Like all the Wild Country biners, the thimble on the gate always stops short of the nose making sure it cannot be over-tightened. The thimble itself is also made from 7075 alloy which means it is extremely strong and once again like the Wild Country, gives an extra level of security.

Clog Midi HMS Screwgate

12mm HMS Midi Screwgate

A real classic this larger HMS has the perfect shape and size for working with all ropes and knots. Made from 12mm round bar stock means that it’s a true HMS, and this means that this stalwart of the Clog range from day one this unit is highly recommended for all belaying jobs as the round bar helps the rope run smoothly. The round bar also means it has the ability to be used with a Italian hitch to double as a belay or abseil device in its own right – useful if you’re as clumsy as me and drop your belay device.

Made from round bar stock so is perfect Comes in Screwgate and auto-Twistlock versions.7075 alloy, 3 Sigma rated, CE EN12275, UIAA 121

Clog 11mm Screwgate

Using an 11mm diameter bar rather than ten this larger ‘D’ shaped offering an increased strength rating making it ideal for the more safety conscious climber or as a more solid and longlasting group or centre unit.

An improved internal area also means it’s reasonably easy to clip and neatly ‘hand-sized’ making it a versatile and lightish all rounder for general climbing or belaying.

The 11mm OSD comes in both Screwgate and auto Twistlock versions offering alternatives depending on preference and circumstance.

7075 alloy, 3 Sigma rated, CE EN12275, UIAA 121

Clog 13mm Screwgate

From the general climbers perspective this is a real ‘old-school’ prodcut and probably for most people overbuilt. With an incredible breaking strain of 30kN this large ‘D’ is really aimed as a ‘working’ karabiner for centres, rescue or climbing walls.

A design that’s changed little over the last 30 years it’s part of the legendarily long lasting Clog range which has had such a great success in institutions all round the world.

7075 alloy, 3 Sigma rated, CE EN12275, UIAA 121
